Worth the Wait: Another COMC shipment (Part II)

Last weekend, I shared the first half of my latest receipt from COMC.  With apologies to Pink Floyd, here’s Part 2.

It Came to the League

A throwback to the 60s sci-fi movies, this theme was introduced in 2022 Bowman Chrome and picked up in 2023.  Pretty sure they initially called the set, “It Came For the League” (or “It Came From Space”) or something, given the prefix of the set.  And, Beckett has it mislabeled.

Top two rows are 2022, bottom two are from 2023.

Row 1:  Kahlil Watson (#ICFL-4), Jose Ramos (#ICFL-12), and Oscar Colas (#ICFL-15).

Row 2: George Valera (#ICFL-6), Jordan Lawlar (#ICFL-2), and Henry Davis (#ICFL-1).

Row 3: Gunnar Henderson (#CFL-2), Francisco Alvarez (#CFL-3), and Anthony Volpe (#CFL-15).

Row 4: Druw Jones (#CFL-8), and Riley Greene (#CFL-4).

UFO

Another sci-fi theme, this insert came from 2022 Bowman’s Best.

Row 1: Colson Montgomery (#UFO-16), George Valera (#UFO-6), James Triantos (#UFO-21), and Blaze Jordan (#UFO-9).

Row 2: Aaron Judge (#UFO-22), Jordan Lawlar (#UFO-2), Cristhian Vaquero (#UFO-15), and Ricardo Cabrera (#UFO-3).

Row 3: Mike Trout (#UFO-1), Pedro Pineda (#UFO-18), Simon Juan (#UFO-19), and Jose Ramos (#UFO-23).

2023 Archives '81 Autos

We all know I’m a sucker for the 1981 Topps.  And the A’s.  And teams that didn’t exist in the original set.  So, here we are with Fan Favorite Autographs from the 2023 Topps Archives set that used the 1981 Topps design.

Michael Toglia (#81FF-MT), Kyle Stowers (#81FF-KS), and Conner Capel (#81FF-CC).

1983 35th Anniversary

I have no idea why Topps picked 35 years.  I also don’t know why they did 30 years to celebrate 1987 in 2017.  Somehow, the 1982 set got screwed.  I think they wanted to avoid 1988 as long as they possibly could.

Anyhow, I got a bunch of the 2018s.  Top row:  Austin Meadows (#83-14), Jose Ramirez (#83AS-28), and silver pack Jake Lamb (#118).  Yep, more Jose Ramirez in the shipment.

Bottom row: chromes of Jake Lamb (#83T-13), Kris Bryant (#83T-10), and Giancarlo Stanton (#83T-23).  Finally, an Amir Garrett auto (#83A-AGR).

1984 35th Anniversary

So, here we are with the 2019 35th anniversary of 1984.  Again, why 35?

Top row: Jose Ramirez again (#T84-66), Matt Olson (#T84-55), Nick Martini (#84R-NM), and Dennis Eckersley (#T84-49).

Row 2: Johnny Bench (#84AS-JBE), Joey Votto (#84AS-JV), and a chrome Matt Chapman (#84TC-8).

Row 3 are all silver pack refractors: Trevor Bauer (#T84U-15), Randy Johnson (#T84U-4), Khris Davis (#T84-30), and Nick Martini (#T84-29).

1987 35th Anniversary

I actually did like the 1987 Topps design.  I didn’t buy much of the flagship Topps set from 2022 but I did get a lot of Chrome.

First up is the final Jose Ramirez card in the shipment (#T87-93) followed by the last two Nick Lodolo’s in the set: #87TBU-16 and the silver pack refractor #T87C-22.

1988 35th Anniversary

I picked up a silver pack Randy Johnson (#T88CU-61) from 2023 Topps.  Again, there were no Diamondbacks in the original set so cool!

2021 70-years of Topps

I got quite a few of the 70-Years of Topps inserts from 2021.

Row 1:  1975 got honored by Christian Yelich (#70YT-25) and two more 1981 Topps.  Both are Tigers: Miguel Cabrera (#70T-31) and Tarik Skubal (also #70T-31)

Row 2: 1976 repped by Francisco Lindor (#70YT-26) and two 1982 Topps: Frank Robinson (#70YT-32) and Ryan Mountcastle (#70YT-32).

For Row 3, we skip up a few years and pick up in 1997 with Joey Votto (#70YT-47), 1998 with Sixto Sanchez (#70YT-48), Tim Lincecum for 1999 (#70YT-49), and 2000 with Geraldo Perdomo (#70YT-50).

Row 4: 2021 Nick Madrigal (#70YT-51), Reggie Jackson for 2010 (#70YT-60), 2015 uses Greg Maddux as a Cub (#70YT-65), and finally 2018 with another Randy Johnson Diamondback card (#70YT-68).

Miscellaneous Reds

Finally, some more Reds spanning a large timeline.

Top Row: 2022 Stadium Club Chrome Team of the Future Jonathan India (#TOF-5), a 1975 Topps mini Tom Hall (#108) that I thought was the regular size but oh well, a 2023 Topps  Chrome Sapphire Graham Ashcraft (#214) and a 2023 Topps gold foil parallel (#214).

Bottom Row: 2004 Bowman Heritage Homer Bailey (#209) that I think is a duplicate and a 2020 Topps rainbow foil Sonny Gray (#172).

Guess what?  There’s another shipment that should be here in about a week!
